Plight of giant panda begins to improve
Plight of giant panda begins to improve The third nationwide survey of giant pandas
carried out in China has revealed that there are now more pandas
living in one of their main habitat areas. There has been a growth
in numbers of pandas in the Wolong Nature Reserve in the southwest
Sichuan province. The giant panda is one of the world’s most
endangered species. They used to be wide-spread throughout southern
and eastern China and north Vietnam but today there are only about
1,000 left in the wild. 4 JULY 2000
