FACTOID!!
When ice covers lakes, there is less oxygen to breathe, and most fish sink to the bottom. They remain very quiet but awake. Carp, however, flap their tails to cover themselves with mud and they go to sleep. When the lake ice melts and the oxygen levels rise they awaken.

Prehistoric Mouse "a little smart cookie"

Prehistoric Mouse "a little smart cookie"
A mouse-like animal that lived some 195 million years ago had a body so tiny that it could have curled up on a loonie. This "Hadrocodium wui" was the smallest animal of the dinosaur age - weighing just 2 grams, like a paper clip, but had a brain that was much bigger compared to other mammals. The name Hadrocodium wui means larger and full head. Researchers say that it holds an important position in the evolution of mammals and could be the ancestor to all mammals, including humans. Hadrocodium wui probably lived on bugs and worms, catching them with long, canine -like teeth, and most likely had to eat the whole time it was awake because it had such a fast metabolism. It also is suggested that it hid during the day, and adapted a nighttime existence to avoid the dinosaurs.
