The endangered jackass penguins under threat from the large oil spill off Cape Town, South Africa, are being saved. The South African National Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds has removed 4,500 birds for cleaning and another 10,000 birds will join them within days. The foundation hopes to rescue the colony of 20,000 birds, including 6,000 chicks from their home on Robben Island.
