Your nose can sense smell best when your are 10 years old. That's probably why kids notice gross smells faster than adults.
Blown away
Blown away Scientists have genetically engineered a new type
of yellow poplar tree which can suck mercury from contaminated soil
and convert it into a less toxic form which then blows away. The
gene which allows them to do this was taken from a bacterium.
Although these trees are an important first step in reducing
mercury levels on the planet, concerns remain regarding the high
levels of mercury found in the atmosphere and in the Arctic, as it
is still poisonous in high concentrations. 3 OCTOBER 1998, P. 11
