Engineers at the University of California, Berkeley, are looking at a theory which suggests that power lines are causing fires. When power lines slap together in high winds, incandescent particles can carry enough heat to start a fire when they hit the ground. If this theory is correct, officials may now have the answer to the mystery of what caused a 3-day fire in Riverside Country, east of Los Angeles, in 1997.
