Loitering insecticide

Loitering insecticide
A pesticide which was banned in 1988 is still hanging around, say scientists. ‘Chlordane’ is still found in many garden vegetables, especially root vegetables such as carrots, beets and potatoes. Scientists from the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station studied a piece of ground which was last treated with chlordane in 1960. Vegetables which were grown there still contained traces of the dangerous pesticide, which can lead to disorders of the digestive and nervous systems.
