Forest renewal cutbacks hit wildlife impact studies
Cutbacks to the budget of Forest Renewal B.C. (FRBC) will result in less funding for research into the impact of logging on wildlife habitat. The annual cutbacks exceed $200 million this year alone. FRBC spokespeople say that they will now concentrate their spending on value-added industries, forestry communities in crisis, silviculture, watershed restoration and inventories, rather than on forestry impact studies.
