Bees communicate by making special dance movements. When a new source of pollen has been found, a bee will spread the good news by doing a special dance. For instance, if a bee dances in a circular motion then it means that food can be found nearby.

Miller's forests proposals spark debate, cabinet colleagues
say At a recent forestry industry conference, deputy
premier Dan Miller suggested that forests in B.C. should be
privatized. In other words, the government should sell forest lands
to forestry companies for private production. The Crown currently
owns most of the land in B.C. that is being forested. Forest
Minister David Zirnhelt did not support this proposal but agreed
that the forestry industry's problems need to be discussed at
length. Remedies are required to offset escalating costs and a
slump in demand. Forestry consultant Les Reed also agreed that
changes need to be made but pointed out that private companies have
a poor record in reforestation of clear-cut areas. He suggested
that the government sell about 10 per cent of its land to see how
the proposal really worked before selling off more forests. Private
companies were also more likely to export raw wood, rather than
putting it through finishing techniques in B.C., and that would
take money away from the province and the forest communities that
depend on the forest industry. The government and industry are
still far from agreement on how to improve the forestry industry
and further discussion is required. 12 APRIL 1999
