Red worms or manure worms can grow to about 5-7 centimetres (3 inches) long and will eat their own weight in garbage every 24 hours. When worms are used in composting it is called vermicomposting.

Contrary to earlier findings, new research has indicated that the forests of North America are not absorbing most of the carbon dioxide emissions from the United States. It was previously believed that the excess carbon dioxide emissions from the U.S. were offset by the absorption of CO2 by it's forests.
