Scientists actually study rhinotillexomania. You don't know what that means? Well, that's a huge scientific word for Nose Picking.
Farmed fish maxed out
Farmed fish maxed out A Vancouver experiment compared transgenic,
genetically engineered trout designed to grow faster with
traditionally-bred domestic trout. The old domestic trout won hands
down! Not only did the engineered trout not grow faster, they did
not get as big. The genetically engineered trout did grow faster
than wild trout, but many of the engineered fish had head and fin
deformities and many died before sexual maturity. The domestic
trout have already reached their maximum size through 100 years of
selective breeding, and inserting new genes did not make them grow
faster or bigger. This may help to explain why genetic engineering
has not been able to improve pigs or cows - domestic animals
already selectively bred. Although inserting new genes may speed up
selective breeding, very little is known about the process and its
side effects or how to control it. FEBRUARY 15, 2001
