The Goliath frog uses its powerful back legs to escape from attackers. It can jump three metres (10 feet) in a single hop. That's the length of a car.
Researchers bate breath on fish find
Researchers bate breath on fish find A tiny fish discovered in the Murray-Darling basin
raises hopes of finding more rare or preciously unidentified
species there. The new fish is similar to the endangered Yarra
pygmy perch, and it is not clear whether it is a genetically
distinct population in the species or an entirely new species. It
is suspected to have been separated from the sea colony of pygmy
perch tens of thousands of years ago. This finds give scientists
hope that some of the fish species thought to be extinct may
actually still be around in this area. APRIL 4, 2001
