FACTOID!!
A beaver's front teeth are bright orange because of their super hard enamel coat. These teeth must be sharp because the beaver uses them to cut down trees. Beaver's teeth never wear out because they never stop growing!

Making sugar and syrup out of a tree in Manitoba

Making sugar and syrup out of a tree in Manitoba
A judge in Manitoba has used methods similar to those used by early settlers to produce maple syrup from trees. If it is done with precision, anybody who owns maple trees can make their own syrup by tapping into the trees, collecting the sap, and boiling it. To make maple sugar you need to drill a small hole in the tree and hammer a "tap" into it. Position a plastic jug below the tap. When the sap begins to run in the spring, the jug will fill with the sap of the tree. Boil the sap to make maple syrup. If you boil it longer, it will become maple sugar.
