Parents ignore SIDS danger, place infants on stomach:
study A new Canadian study has shown that more than half
of all victims of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) were placed
to sleep on their stomachs by their parents of caregivers. Public
education campaigns have been promoting the non-prone (on the back)
sleeping position for infants to prevent the occurrence of SIDS.
These campaigns have been very effective in reducing the incidence
of SIDS in small babies. DECEMBER 4, 2000
