The strange creatures of the deep ocean live in darkness all the time. They make their own light to find mates and to lure prey within reach.
Public enemy number one
Public enemy number one A leading wildlife vet in Britain reports that
hedgehogs may be dangerous to humans. His research shows that
hedgehogs carry up to 16 diseases which can be transmitted to
people and this makes them one of the most dangerous animals in
Europe. Care should be taken when handling hedgehogs but the best
policy is to avoid touching them or their droppings. Hedgehogs
trend to lead solitary, nocturnal lives, so avoiding contact with
them is not difficult. 2 OCTOBER 1999, P. 27
