Stairs can save
The common exercise advice of taking the stairs rather than an elevator or escalator can actually help you shed pounds and add years to your life. Researchers found that taking 2 flights of stairs daily can help in the loss of up to 10 pounds a year, and that using the stairs for 10 minutes a day can add 1 to 2 years to your life. However, they also found that when most people had the choice of either using the stairs or taking an escalator, 95 percent would take the escalator.
