Ancient rat mummies found in Egypt

Ancient rat mummies found in Egypt
A landfall in the ancient Egyptian city of Abydos has unearthed a cemetery of animal mummies. Egyptian archeologists found 8 tiny gold-plated limestone coffins containing what are thought to be mummified rats, which date back to 300 b.c. They have also found 6 large pottery jars, each with the preserved bodies of 25 falcons inside. The Egyptians, who mummified a wide range of animals from cats to crocodiles, believed rats ate the hearts of sinners on judgement day, while falcons represent the god Horus, son of Osiris and Isis.
