Charlottes yield sign of ancient apocalypse

Charlottes yield sign of ancient apocalypse
200 million years ago, an apocalypse destroyed at least half the species on earth, and it happened in a blink of an eye. The extinction event took place in only 10,000 years. Samples collected on the Queen Charlotte Islands show a sharp decline in organic carbon in just a few layers. This mass extinction happened when all the land on earth was in only one super-continent and the Queen Charlottes were probably on the equator. Scientists believe there have been five events like this one that all wiped out most of life on Earth. Scientists aren't sure what caused the extinction, although it may have been a meteor impact.
