Owls have 'nightshine' vision. A layer of cells in an owl's eyes cause them to be glossy or mirror-like and this allows them to capture all of the available light. Owls are able to see in detail where humans see only darkness.






Professor Gail Anderson of Simon Fraser University has been named on of the five leading innovators in the field of criminal justice by Time Magazine. Prof. Anderson is a forensic entomologist and a criminologist, and she uses insects to tell the time of death in a homicide. By researching the patterns and stages in which insects colonize a body after death, she can determine when death occurred, sometimes to the hour!
