Lion-killing flies

Lion-killing flies
Swarms of biting flies, Stomoxys calcitrans, have killed at least six lions in Tanzania's Ngorongoro Crater wildlife park. The blood sucking flies have sharp, file-like teeth that they use to break through the skin of warm-blooded animals. 62 more lions have been seriously injured by these swarms of flies that "bite the lions and then keep biting their wounds, inflicting a lot of pain and traumatizing them."
