Researchers in Hungary have found that adult Mayflies can be confused by light reflecting on dry asphalt roads, as it looks like direct sunlight being reflected off the surface of water. As a result, more and more adult Mayflies are starting to lay their eggs on roads. The eggs laid on roads cannot survive, which is depriving the ecosystems of streams where Mayflies usually lay their eggs of an important energy source.
