After a sweat gland squirts, it takes about 9 seconds for that sweat gland to fill up and squirt again.
Two to tango
Two to tango The attine ants of Central and South America
cultivate fungi in underground gardens. The fungi are fed rotting
plant matter by the ants, who then eat the fungi. Feeding plant
matter to the fungi makes the fungi more nutritious than the
original plant matter. Researchers say that the relationship has
been going on so long that the ants and fungi have experienced a
co-evolution over the past 50 million years. During co-evolution,
both species involved influence the evolution of the other. It has
also been found that domestication of fungus happened a number of
times in the past with different species of attine ants. Different
species of these ants cultivate different species of
fungus. 6 MARCH 1999. P. 10-11
