Arctic fuel source sought by scientists A team of scientists is flying to the Canadian
Arctic to try and get fire out of ice. They are hoping that
ice-like formations of methane gas can provide an energy bonanza.
Known as methane hydrates, these formations are found in deep sea
environments and underneath permafrost in the tundra. MAY 21, 2001
