Red Planet had lakes, photo study indicates Photos of deep beds of sedimentary rock on Mars
suggest that this planet may have once had lakes. Asteroids may
have created craters, which could have collected water, forming
lakes. Sediments flowing into these lakes may have settled on the
lake bottoms and eventually hardened into rock. This strengthens
the theory that Mars was once a warm and wet planet. DECEMBER 5, 2000
