Rock may hold record of universe's birth

Rock may hold record of universe's birth
A meteorite which fell to Earth on January 18th may help scientists to understand the origins of the solar system. Although the meteorite heated up during its journey through the Earth's atmosphere, the core of the rock would have remained cold, preserving delicate organic molecules trapped inside. The core of the meteorite could hold materials dating to the origin of the universe, about 4.5 billion years ago. Many scientists believe that meteorites such as this one contain organic materials which became the building blocks of life on Earth.
