Koalas are marsupials, a mammal that carries its young in a pouch. They live in the Eucalyptus forests of Australia and they only eat the new leaves of a few different types of eucalypt trees. Koala's paws are hand-like, strong, and have very sharp claws to help them hold onto tree trunks and branches.
Ontario smog puts treaty at risk
Ontario smog puts treaty at risk The emissions from three of Ontario's coal-fired
power plants falls far short of U.S. pollution standards and is
jeopardizing the renewal of a cross-border smog treaty between
Ontario and New York. New York Attorney-General Eliot Spitzer
reminded Environment Minister David Anderson in a letter that he
promised the power plants would meet or exceed U.S. smog
requirements. "'It is beyond dispute that Ontario Power
Generation's coal-fired power plant's emissions also cause
considerable damage to public health and the environment on both
sides of our shared border,' he wrote." OCTOBER 6, 2000
