The common shrew has to eat almost nonstop or it will starve.
Blind date
Blind date It seems that when seagulls peck out the eyes of
tiger snakes, the snakes don't really mind. The eye-less snakes
grow just as long and gain as much weight as healthy ones. They
even successfully track mates. The phenomenon of remaining healthy
with the loss of a major sense offers evidence for the idea that
some animals may be over-designed, possessing ancestral abilities
that they no longer need. 22 MAY 1999, P. 10
