So what's this crazy weather doing to our plants?
Marjorie Harris, editor of 'Gardening Life', has concerns about how global warming is affecting the Earth's plants and trees. Soil temperature changes, extreme weather changes and ultraviolet rays are harmful to many plants. These cause, among other things, sunburn, nitrogen releases and fungal diseases. Using too many pesticides and fertilizers is also dangerous to plants, especially in the increasing heat of the summer. However, it's not all bad news as warmer temperatures seem to be helping native species to grow, and numbers of butterflies are also increasing.
