Although termites are not related to ants, they have a similar way of life. Sometimes they are even called white ants. Their huge nests are made from sand mixed with their own droppings!

Tidal warming An investigator from the Scripps Institution of
Oceanography in San Diego says that the moon may have triggered a
little ice age 500 years ago. Researchers had recently uncovered an
interesting 1,500 to 1,800 year oscillation cycle in the world's
temperatures, and the moon's influence on the world's water may
explain this. Charles Keeling of the Scripps Institution suggests
that the moon resets the Earth's thermostat through its influence
on the tides. His calculations put the Earth in the middle of a
