Most butterflies live for only a few days nor weeks. But postman butterflies live for up to 9 months because they feed on pollen as well as nectar. Pollen is rich in nutrients, especially proteins.
Trans-Pacific dust cloud
Trans-Pacific dust cloud An immense cloud of dust, formed over the deserts
of China and Mongolia in early April, has appeared in western North
America. The cloud was blown by jet stream winds across the
Pacific, and the haze was visible in the skies from Calgary to
Colorado. This cloud almost certainly also carried industrial
pollution with it. One expert said, "This storm is a godsend to
pollution researchers. People are finally realizing that what we
have been saying for years is true. Pollution from Asia is being
carried across the ocean." It is likely that pollution is carried
across by jet streams all the time, only unlike the dust, it is
invisible. APRIL 21, 2001
