American mountain ash is a small (<12 m) tree. The fruit is an important source of food for many birds and some mammals. It makes a scrumptious homemade jelly. The First Peoples used the fruit and inner bark for medicinal remedies.

showy mountain ashSorbus decora (Sarg.) Schneid.
Showy mountain ash can reach heights of more than 20 m, but more commonly it grows to a height of about 10 m. The flowers, as the name infers, are 'showy' and bloom after the leaves are fully-grown.
